What is Qik?

Qik is a little piece of software that enables you to stream videos directly from your phone to the Web. Use it to stream engaging videos to your friends in Facebook, Twitter, etc. or as your camcorder to capture entertaining and special moments.

 

What can I do with Qik?

With Qik you can stream engaging video live from your phone to the world or use your phone like a camcorder to capture entertaining, interesting and special moments. Go LIVE with your life by streaming anytime, anywhere — right from your phone. Be an eyewitness, capture those first steps, or whip up your own streaming video blog. What do I need to run Qik?

We are constantly adding support for new phones. Currently, we support video streaming on Nokia S60 phones: N71, N73, N75, N76, N77, N80, N82, N91, N92, N93i, N95, E50, E51, E61i, E65, E70m E90 Communicator, 3250, 5500, 5700 Xpress Music, 6110 Navigator, 6120 Classic, 6121 Classic, and 6290. You also need a Data Plan and it is also advisable to have an Unlimited Data Plan from your service provider as video streaming can consume considerable amount of bandwidth.

 

When will Qik support my phone?

We are continuously adding support for phones. If you are interested in finding information about a specific device, please send an email to support@qik.com

 

How can I participate in Qik’s Alpha release?

Currently, registration is only through invitations. If you are interested, please go towww.qik.com and enter your phone number. We will send you an SMS with a link to verify your request. Once you click the link from the SMS and confirm your request we will evaluate your request and get back to you.

 

How can I stream Qik to Twitter?

Login to www.qik.com and go to your profile page. Then in the section marked Twitter, enter your Twitter username and password. That’s all you need to get going with Twitter.

Are my streams automatically recorded?

Yes, your streams are automatically recorded. These are available through your profile page on www.qik.com

 

How can I manage my recorded streams?

Yes, you can manage all your streams from your profile page on www.qik.com

 

How can I make my streams private?

From your profile page on www.qik.com you can either:
(a) select individual videos and set those as private OR
(b) set your streams to be private by default by changing your default privacy setting

Is there an age restriction for using Qik?
